Sunset Valley Elementary, the Lee’s Summit R-7 School District’s 18th elementary, opened its doors to students on August 18, 2009. Sunset Valley is located in the southeast portion of the district in a rural, natural setting. The mission of Sunset Valley is to ensure students grow as learners and citizens in a caring community dedicated to high expectations, collaboration, and the promotion of life-long learning.
Sunset Valley Elementary currently has close to 500 students. Staff and students embrace three specialized programs housed at Sunset Valley, including a Communication Language and Social Skills Classroom, Life Skills, and the District’s K-12 Medically Fragile Program. Two large activity areas have been integrated among the classrooms to allow for large-group instruction or specialized student projects. When visiting our school, take time to view the beautiful mural of our Jaguar mascot, which is located in our gymnasium.
